Heavenly Father, I come to you in these difficult moments of uncertainty and
anxiety.
The election is looming before me, the uncertainty of the pandemic still looms heavy, and now the uncertainty of what these election results will bring. I thank you Lord that I have the freedom to cast my vote – but with that freedom comes the importance of coming before You asking for wisdom to make a godly decision, recognizing the need to humble myself before You, the Creator of the universe and my Savior, and acknowledging that I am also a citizen of Your heavenly kingdom.
I pray for my country that peace would prevail; for the candidates – that they would model gracious behavior and civility; and for each of us, that we would trust in Your plan – no matter
what our personal opinions are.
Father, forgive us, forgive me, for treating Your children in any way other than that which would please you, and give us the grace and guidance to move forward in a spirit of renewal and grace.
I am reminded of, and pray Paul’s words from Philippians: Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And may the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, guard my, and your, hearts and
minds in Christ Jesus.
In Your name, AMEN.
